Social Media & Cell Phones
While OYT respects the right of students to utilize the variety of social media options available, we must insist that the following standards be met by our students, parents, and faculty at all times. On Your Toes strongly encourages all students to carefully review the privacy settings on any social media site they use and exercise care and good judgment when posting content and information on such sites. Please remind students that items posted on social media may been seen by others and will be available on the internet for years to come.
As stated in our studio rules, cell phones should not be in the classroom/studio. Students may leave their cell phones in their dance bags, but may not check them during class. Students should never text teachers. If a student has a question, they can email their teacher (if an email is given) or Miss Tricia (firstname.lastname@example.org).
ALL OYT STUDENTS MUST AGREE TO:
Not take pictures in dressing rooms.
Only use your own device when taking videos or pictures of dancers.
Not post pictures to social media of any student without the express consent of that student.
Not post material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, slanderous, hateful or embarrassing to any other person or entity.
Not post comments that violate the privacy of our students and/or their families.
Not use cell phones during class time.
Not text teachers or send messages via social media. Please use email.
PARENTS & TEACHERS
We respect our student’s right to privacy. Before posting any photo or video of an OYT class or event, please be sure you have the consent of the teacher and anyone else in the photo/video. We ask our teachers to not add parents or students on social media and instead to share dance related posts via the On Your Toes accounts. Please respect this rule and do not send friend requests to teachers. We do, however, recognize that some parents may have existing or outside relationships with teachers and we ask that you use your judgement and discretion in these cases.
We ask that you do not use cell phones for calls in the lobby unless there is an emergency. Should you need to take a call, please step outside.
Please do not text teachers with questions. Email is always the most efficient way to get an answer. You may be able to find an answer more quickly by consulting our website.
